Amadora will support the incomes of families living in private accommodation

The municipality of Amadora, in the district of Lisbon, will create a rental assistance program for families living in the municipality’s private housing stock, the local authority announced on February 3.

In a statement, Amadora City Council said the proposal to begin drafting the bylaw for the measure was approved at the last executive meeting.

According to the note from the municipality, the objective of this program is to “promote opportunities for choice and housing stability and access to housing, promoting social and territorial inclusion”.

“The Municipality of Amadora has invested in the diversification of housing solutions, aimed at different segments of the population, responding to the challenges posed by housing, demographic and territorial problems, especially in the Lisbon metropolitan area”, justifies the municipality.

In this sense, the town hall of Amadora points out that the municipal rental support program for the private housing stock “responds to other measures that have been implemented in the municipality and which aim to promote “the maintenance of rentals, by reducing the economic precariousness resulting from the Covid -19 pandemic.
