A car repair and trade company, located in the Neiva industrial zone in Viana do Castelo, is investing one million euros in a collision center that will create 10 new jobs.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, one of the directors of Auto Valverde, Nuno Rodrigues, said today that the contract for the construction of the industrial pavilion of approximately 2,000 square meters of covered area, intended to repair the bodywork, had already started, in an investment of one million euros.
The unit will be equipped with âthe latest equipment and technologies for intervention on vehicles, in body repairâ.
The “collision center will be completed in the spring of 2022, and the start of operations is scheduled for June or July,” he said, adding that it is “a center just to work on what we usually referred to as bodywork and paint “.
In the medium term, “we foresee the creation of 10 new jobs”, declared Nuno Rodrigues, justifying the expansion of the company by “the need of the company to increase its production capacity, which is currently almost at the bottom. limit”.
The administrator, who spoke with the Lusa agency about the public presentation of the new investment, guaranteed that “almost all the workers are recruited in the municipality”.
In 2016, the âsmall family workshopâ founded 35 years ago and which employed four people left its premises in the village of Vila Fria and moved to an industrial pavilion in the industrial area of ââNeiva, with 2,500 square meters, in an investment of 650 thousand euros which today employs 14 workers.
âAfter this growth trajectory, the company wants to be a benchmark in its sector. It is in this sense that it has become increasingly necessary to extend the entire production structure, in order to increase our capacity and meet the demands that the automotive sector increasingly presents to us â, said the manager who, since 2000, together with his brother, has been running Auto Valverde.
Nuno Rodrigues explained that, “even in spite of the difficult economic context” caused by the covid-19 pandemic, “it is the perfect time for the creation of the new unit which will function as an exclusive hub for the field of repair. and bodywork maintenance “.
“We are living at a decisive moment in the evolution of the global automotive industry, which requires us to follow the whole paradigm of technological change associated with the electrification of vehicles,” he said.
The new investment aims to “bring together in a single space a range of services that covers all activities related to vehicle maintenance and repair”.
âWe believe this is a differentiator from many companies that operate in this business area. We are also seeking to specialize and qualify increasingly scarce human resources in this field, with a view, in the medium term, to exporting this type of service to countries, particularly in Northern Europe â, he added. .
Founded in 1986 by Joaquim Rodrigues, father of the two current administrators, the small family car repair and maintenance workshop earned, on average, around 200,000 euros per year.
Currently, with the expansion of the company into new areas, such as car trading and rental and car loan intermediation, the turnover is around 1.5 million euros per year. .
The investment presented today is supported by the municipal incentive scheme, created in 2010, which provides for tax reductions and exemptions for investors in tourism developments and business accommodation, economic activities related to the sectors of l ‘regional agriculture and forestry, urban regeneration and modernization of commercial and catering areas.
The measures aim to guarantee investors mechanisms and policies aimed at promoting the development of activities related to endogenous products, rehabilitation and real estate.
