Portugal announce 26-man squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup

This will be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last chance to get his hands on the prestigious trophy

Portugal have one of the strongest squads for the world Cup this year, the team having incredible depth. This will be one of the greatest opportunities for Ronaldo to lead his team to immortality.

Portugal have always been seen as a struggling team due to their incompetence and lack of top performing players, but thanks to their emerging talents and many players affirming their merit on the pitch. The European Champions 2016 have been named golden generation this time around, and manager Fernando Santos will want his side to live up to this World Cup.

Portugal will be playing in their eighth World Cup and are yet to win football’s highest prize. Their best campaign was in 2006 when they reached the semi-finals before being ousted by France.

Although they couldn’t qualify directly for the World Cup after finishing runners-up, they had to play playoff games to secure a World Cup spot, which they eventually got. Ronaldo, 37, hasn’t been in good form lately but will be looking to resurrect his form ahead of the World Cup.

Portugal are seeded in Group H along with Uruguay, Ghana and South Korea. Even though it’s not an easy group, Portugal will undoubtedly win the group, given their rich squad. Otherwise, it will be considered a huge waste for the nation.

on November 24, they will launch their World Cup 2022 campaign against Ghana. The 26 men who will participate are listed below.
