Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo may not be the player he used to be anymore, but his social media popularity certainly isn’t going down.

The Portuguese star is the most popular player on Instagram ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, according to Oddspedia.

He has 494 million followers, which means he tops more than any sports personality. Ronaldo is the most followed personality on Instagram.

Another all-time great, Argentina’s Lionel Messi, came second with 370 million followers and Brazil’s Neymar has 181 million.

Kylian Mbappe, who helped France win the previous World Cup, ranked fourth with 73 million followers and Argentina’s Paulo Dybala was next with 49.3 million. Welsh star Gareth Bale finished sixth with 48.3 million.

Somewhat surprisingly, Englishman Harry Kane was only 22nd with 13.2 million followers.

Edmonton’s Alphonso Davies, who will help Canada to its first World Cup since 1986, has just over 5 million subscribers, making him the leader among players from North American countries.
