Qatar invests 2.28 million euros in Portugal Golden Visas


According to a report by ECO, Qatar’s investment in obtaining golden visas has totaled 2.28 million euros in nearly 10 years of the Investment Residency Authorization (ARI) program, with five visas granted .

Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup, which starts in a month, on November 20, and ends on December 18.

Asked by Lusa about the Qatari investment raised by this instrument launched in October 2012, an official source from the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) indicated that “five ARIs have been granted”.

Three of the golden visas were granted to citizens of Qatar based on the acquisition of real estate worth €500,000 or more;

Two golden visas have been granted for the acquisition of real estate to be rehabilitated (whose construction has been completed for at least 30 years or located in an urban rehabilitation area and the carrying out of rehabilitation works on the real estate acquired, for a total amount equal to or greater than 350 thousand euros).

In 2016, the first golden visa was granted to a citizen of Qatar, for the purchase of real estate, as part of an investment of 565,000 euros.

Three years later, in 2019, two ARIs were granted to Qatar under the property acquisition criterion, including one for urban rehabilitation, for a total of 915 thousand euros.

In 2020, the year of the pandemic, the fourth “golden” visa was granted, for an investment of 528,000 euros, and this year the fifth was granted (280,000 euros).
